We are harvested tons of peaches from our urban food forest in our front yard. We thin the fruit trees in order to make sure the fruit that grows gets large and ripe. The peaches started to ripen up last week and there is a faint smell of delicious peach when you get close to the tree. The peaches are ripe and ready to harvest when they get slightly soft to the touch. There are still many hard peaches on the trees but enough soft ones to start the harvest.

A tree-ripened peach is the epitome of summer for us. We enjoy fresh peaches on Swedish pancakes, carmelized for dessert, or just eaten fresh from the tree. Our peaches gave us very limited fruit last year, but this year there is a beautiful abundance.
